I know, the only thing you want to hear when you’re in stress is about how you shouldn’t reach for that ice-cream tub or that pile of french fries. However, there’s nothing those foods can make you really feel better. Instead try on of these:

Berries: Those little candy like fruit can help you calm you down when in stress. They provided a great source of slow absorption natural sugar that helps you relax. Also, berries contains a great deal of vitamin C, which helps fighting cortisol, a stress hormone.

Citrus:
Like berries, oranges, grapefruit and other citrus are loaded with vitamin C, and help lower blood pressure. So next time you feel anxious, take a break and peel an orange!

Nuts: Stress can deplete your vitamin B storage, as well as your zinc. Mixed nuts can help boost your intake of those vitamins.

Avocados: Like the nuts, avocados a rich in B complex vitamins, and their creaminess makes them a food of choice for comfort food cravings. Think of guacamole with whole grains oven baked chips, or a avocado raw chocolate pudding.

Asparagus: Have you ever tried crunching raw asparagus? When young and fresh, there’s nothing like it to boots your intake of folic acid, a natural mood lifter, and glutathion, a must for the body detoxification. Lightly steamed with a bit of extra virgin olive oil is good too.

Herbal tea: A warm cup of herbal tea such as chamomile or lime-flower does wonders to soothe nervous system. And it also contributes to your daily water intake.
