Water is one of the best and cheapest ways to support your body to detox naturally. Drinking plenty of pure water helps to flush the toxins out, keep your skin supple, fight cellulite and curbs appetite. But drinking enough water isn’t always easy. One good habit to help you drink more water is to always carry a bottle of water with you.
However, bottles aren’t created equal and some can bring you more toxins as you wash others out. Commercially bottled water can leach chemicals from the plastic bottles in which they are stored, and have traces of bottle cleaner in it. Even small refillable bottles can be a problem. If the bottle contains BPA, or if you can’t wash your bottle and let it dry completely, you can end-up adding to your toxins burden. The truth is, even if you clean your bottle thoroughly before refilling it, chances are that potentially harmful bacteria still stay in there.
To make sure that your water bottle is really clean, you must be able to wash it correctly and let it dry completely before reusing it. This can be quite a problem with bottles with a small opening, which is often the case with sports bottles. However, a new brand of bottles solved this problem. Clean Bottle make some great BPA-free bottles with an exclusive screw-bottom to allow easy cleaning and drying. This young company has designed those bottles especially for cyclists, but they can also be a good alternative for everybody who looks for an easy to clean, BPA free water bottle. Clean Bottle also donates 10% of its profits to charitable causes.
Folks at Clean Bottle had the generosity to send some samples for me to try. I’ve tested thoroughly the bottles for you, carrying them around everywhere two weeks in a row, from the beach to the jungle, and here’s what I think about it.
Clean Bottle Review
- BPA free
- Easy to clean
- Have a sturdy spout
- Produced by a socially conscious company
- Printing on bottles chips
- Get scratched easily
- Can leave a plastic taste when leaved out too long in the sun
- Is not insulated so water can get warm quickly in hot weather
Please take in consideration that I used the bottles as an all-purpose water bottle, not solely as a cycling water bottle. This means that I carried it in my purse, left it out on the beach under the sun, took it trekking, etc, which probably contributed to some of the cons noted above.
